Fire and Rescue NSW's lithium-ion battery safety program is an education campaign for high school students, created as FRNSW became the standalone agency for lithium battery education in NSW. The brief was to redesign an existing slide deck, but the original was corporate and text-heavy, built for adults rather than a teenage audience.

The deck was rebuilt from the ground up around strong imagery and simplified messages, so the presenting firefighter could talk to each slide instead of reading from it. The program then grew beyond the brief into an interactive quiz game, posters for school grounds, and downloadable wallpapers students could access via QR code.

Every safety message was verified with the operational firefighter leading the rollout.

A cast of characters, each carrying one safety message: swollen batteries, charging on beds, and cheap chargers. Designed as downloadable wallpapers, they keep the lesson on students' screens long after the presentation ends.

A hallway poster series, each focused on one safety habit, with rhyming headlines that stick and QR codes linking to more information. They keep the message in front of students every day, not just on presentation day.
